Rob Scholte (born 1958) is a Dutch artist. He is considered a visual fetishist since he obsessively keeps every image and photo that strikes his interest. Scholte experiments with images and their possible meanings, as with the 1987 piece “picture-in-picture”, a satire of Edvard Munch’s The Scream. In 1990 he presented his largest painting as of yet, from war footage of the Nagasaki atomic bombing. in 1994 he survived a murder attempt, a bomb attack that left him wheelchair bound. Undeterred, he maintains an exuberant passion for the images he produces.
