Piotr Uklański (born 1968) is a Polish artist. His first notable work in a major institution is “Untitled (Dance Floor)” (1996), a wall-to-wall floor piece of interactive illuminated tiles reminiscent of Saturday Night Fever. Uklański typically clashes popular culture with high art to such promiscuity that they tend to cancel each other out. His photographic series “Untitled (The Nazis)” (1998) caused an outrage when first exhibited in London. His billboard “Untitled (John Pope II)” (2004), was on the other hand turned into a memorial shrine after the Pope's death in 2005, when exhibited on the streets of Warsaw.
