Marcus Harvey (born 1963) is an English artist and painter, known for “Myra” (1995) his tabloid-provoking 11 feet tall portrayal of Moors murderer Myra Hindley, created from handprints from a plaster cast of a child’s hand. The painting had to be removed twice from exhibitions, to be repaired from attacked in ink and eggs. Harvey continued to produce provocative works such as “Maggie” (2009) and “Churchill” (2008), which were variations but not of consistent of impact as the original “Myra”.
